The fruit of a continued cooperation between two research teams, French and German, this book presents a summary of the Creation and anthropology in the works of Eckhart and Nicolas de Cues, using several approaches. These two notions had been little studied in the two authors’ work until present, or at least they had not been the object of specific studies. Far from disqualifying the Creation, Eckhart and Nicolas de Cues, on the contrary, show its value, starting from an original commentary of Genesis. To illustrate this, Eckhart introduces the idea of an initial overflowing, shows the link between the creation and the Trinity, takes account of the ontological dimension of the creation while underlining the inherent dialectic, which has sometimes confused his readers. The commentary of Genesis 1, 26, on the creation of the human being in the image of God, is also a starting point for their anthropology, which in some respects heralds reflection on the subject. This book makes a considerable contribution to research. Topical questions are asked, which makes it all the more interesting.
