This title offers brief meditations on the Gospels. Although they are inscribed within a precise liturgical context, these homilies are intended to open up our minds to the constant incarnation of God’s Word in our daily lives, not by seeking exterior moral applications, but, on the contrary, by awakening our inner comprehension of the situations we live, and by increasing our attention to the real motives for hope. As for the "Pilgrims of Emmaus", these texts show the reader that the creative Word accompanies us in all circumstances, and allows us to nourish an inner dialogue. One that, far from imposing an exterior meaning on the scriptures or a justification of spirituality, seeks to perceive - in the acceptation of life for itself - the revelation of the true meaning of the Scriptures, and the most concrete manifestation of the Spirit: "Did not our heart burn within us, while He talked with us by the way?…"(Luke 24, 32). The ways of interiority are the ways of converting our gaze on ourselves, on the world and on God. They are the ways of reconciling the living with life, of a return to the sources of joy; in short, of a rediscovery of the Gospels as Good News.
